IRB Sevens standing after Adelaide International
Kenya loses out to South Africa in Adelaide International Sevens

Kenya finally succumbed to South Africa in the finals of the Adelaide International Sevens.
South Africa beat Kenya 26-7 to retain the tournament and stretch their lead in IRB Sevens World Series standings to 28 points.
Kenya earlier defeated Argentina 17-5 to confirm their status as a genuine power at the top of the sevens game and reach their first ever final but the Boks proved too strong for the athletic Kenyans.
South Africa had earlier defeated Fiji the Hong Kong champions 21-10 to set up a first all African rivals final.
England beat Australia to claim Plate
Series points: England (8), Australia (6), Wales (4), New Zealand (4)
Here is reaction from Paul Treu, the South Africa coach :
"It's the first time that we've retained a title, I think we've pretty much achieved every single goal (we set), unfortunately we didn't win the Hong Kong tournament but I told the guys last week that there will still be many Hong Kongs to come.
"We are not Springbok Sevens, there will be many Springbok Sevens players and many Springbok Sevens coaches who will come after us and there will be many opportunities for them but winning this one for the second time is a nice feeling.
"I'm still reluctant (to say that the World Series is won). Yes it is going to be difficult for the other teams but we would tend to focus on the things that are in our control and win more tournaments."

Kenya Edge out SA to top Pool D in Adelaide Sevens Adelaide Sevens

Kenya on Saturday kept their cool to edge out South Africa 15-14 in the last Pool D match of an African derby in the Adelaide Sevens which is the sixth in the eight-leg International Rugby Board Sevens World Series.
With a podium finish, Kenya set a date with Rugby World Cup Sevens champions Wales in the Cup quarter final on Sunday.
Frankie Horne scored a try for South Africa and Renfred Dazel converted for an early 7-0 lead. But, Kenya battled back and scored two quick tries by Sidney Ashioya and Gibson Weru to lead 10-7 at the break.
The tide appeared to be turning in South Africa’s favour when Ryno Benjamin went over and Dazel converted for the lead to change hands 10-14 in their favour.
Very excited
Victor Oduor barged over for Kenya’s only second win against South Africa in the IRB Sevens World Series. Earlier, Collins Injera scored twice while Innocent Simiyu, Ashioya and Alan Onyango added one each as Kenya defeated Cook Islands 27-0.
South Africa defeated Japan 43-0. Richard Omwela, the Kenya Rugby Football Union was excited, saying Kenya’s third consecutive podium finish spelt good things for the amateurs.
“The boys are on fire and I am sure they will be firing on all cylinders against Wales. Who knows, this could be Kenya’s tournament,” he said.
By virtue of reaching the quarter-finals of the Main Cup competition, Kenya now has 46 points, just two shy of what coach Benjamin Ayimba had budgeted for for the 2008/2009 season. There are two more tournaments in England and Scotland next month.
